Senator Edwin Olson

State Senator Edwin Olson, Jr. (R) represents South Dakota, and he was first elected to the state legislature in 2000. He is a member of the education, health and human services and state affairs committees.

Senator Olson received his Bachelor’s degree at Dakota Wesleyan University and his Master’s Degree in Education from South Dakota State University. He has thirty years of experience working with youth where he has served as a teacher, coach and principal in public schools in South Dakota. He also currently serves as Foundation Director at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.

Senator Olson was invited to be a member of the CSMHA board in 2005, and he gladly accepted the charge to continue his work to advance the lives of our nation’s youth. He lives in South Dakota with his wife and three children.
