Data Matters Newsletters focus on an effort to advance both research and practice in the area of school mental health quality. Policy Briefs & Legislation Updates focus on specific policy issues, and present alternatives and make recommendations regarding those issues. School Mental Health Capacity Building Partnership Resources An array of resources for those interested in building or strengthening the capacity for school mental health partnerships with diverse stakeholders. Resource Packets provide guidance on specific topics that are relevant to providing mental health services in schools. Critical Issues Meeting Notes summarize the bi-annual meetings the CSMH holds to discuss issues that are critical to the advancement of the field. Newsletters that were published by the Center for School Mental Health can be viewed here. White Papers on topics related to school mental health are available here. Quality Reference List offers key references related to school mental health and quality improvement. Free Assessment List is a list of recommended clinical measures that can be used in school mental health programs to help assess symptoms of clinical disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety, ADHD). Also included below are measures to assess school climate that may also be useful for school mental health. Free Webinars offers free archived webinars pertaining to school mental health. Development of an Interconnected Systems Framework for School Mental Health- This document, developed by Susan Barrett and Lucille Eber, National PBIS TA Center and the Center for School Mental Health, aims to establish an interconnected systems framework linking Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and School Mental Health in order to build more responsive and effective systems that connect mental health and schools.
Please download this document, read it and reflect on your experiences in school. We will be soliciting input from a variety of stakeholder groups to help continue to shape this framework and operationalize the concept of an interconnected systems framework inclusive of mental health and education, and guided by youth and families. Training Curriculum: School Mental Health and Foster Care The CSMH, with funding from the Maryland Mental Health Transformation Grant, developed a training curriculum entitled "School Mental Health and Foster Care: A Training Curriculum for Parents, School-based Clinicians, Educators, and Child Welfare staff. Summary of Recognized Evidence-Based Programs Implemented by Expanded School Mental Health Programs (CSMH): The list of evidence-based programs generated for this table were identified as part of the Center for School Mental Health’s National Survey of Expanded School Mental Health Programs (2007). 156 ESMH Programs from across the country responded to the survey. Only evidence-based programs that received at least one recognition on one of ten evidence-based program registries (see the CSMH's Summary of Evidence Based Program Registries) were included in the table. Selected Swine Flu Resources, a collection of links related to the Swine Flu (H1N1) virus relevant to school mental health stakeholders. The Youth Suicide Prevention School-Based Guide is designed to provide accurate, user-friendly information. The Guide is not a program but a tool that provides a framework for schools to assess their existing or proposed suicide prevention efforts (through a series of checklists) and provides resources and information that school administrators can use to enhance or add to their existing program. |
