Reverend Alvin C. Hathaway, Sr., MAC

The Reverend Dr. Alvin C. Hathaway, Sr., a son of Union Baptist Church, is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. His wife of 24 years is Kathleen Brice, a career employee of The Department of Defense.  They have two children: Alvin Jr., a JD/MBA graduate student, who earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering from WVU; and Adaria, a senior at Morgan State University who is majoring in Communications.

Reverend Hathaway earned his Doctor of Ministry degree at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He has completed post graduate studies at University of Baltimore in Public Administration and The College of Notre Dame in Non-Profit Strategic Management.  He earned his Masters of Arts in Church Ministries Degree and a Certificate in Urban Ministry from Saint Mary's Seminary and University. He is a graduate of The Harvard Divinity School's Summer Leadership Institute. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies Degree from The McKendree School of Religion. He also studied Philosophical Theology at Coppin State College and was the first President of its Philosophical Theology Club. He is a graduate of Baltimore City College High School.

Reverend Hathaway is the full-time Assistant Pastor of Union Baptist Church of Baltimore. His call to this position in October 2004 was the first for an assistant pastor in the 154 year history of the church.
