Prince George's School Mental Health Initiative

The Prince George’s School Mental Health Initiative (PGSMHI) is a partnership that was formed in September of 2006 between Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and the University of Maryland, Center for School Mental Health (CSMH). The purpose is to: (1) implement a model of clinical and case management services that will help students with significant emotional and behavioral problems be successful in the least restrictive environment, (2) enhance staff competency through ongoing training and education, and (3) promote family-school involvement and partnership across the full continuum of services provided.
