Zewelanji Serpell
Zewelanji N. Serpell, Ph.D. is currently an assistant professor at Virginia State University, and formerly the associate director of the Alvin V. Baird Attention & Learning Disabilities Center (ALDC) at James Madison University. Dr. Serpell has coordinated collaborative efforts to design and implement school-based psychosocial interventions for adolescents with ADHD and been the PI on grant funded projects examining social impairment and related problems in this population. She has expertise in cultural issues relevant to school-based work with African American youth, and recently coauthored a book chapter on engaging culturally diverse parents in school-based mental health efforts. Dr. Serpell serves as a co-investigator on the supplemental study on external placement. She is also a member of the core research team; providing expertise to ensure interventions is culturally responsive.
