David Pruitt
David B. Pruitt, M.D. is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He serves as Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the School’s Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Pruitt is also the Director of the Taghi Modaressi Center for Infant Study at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Pruitt is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed an Internship in Pediatrics at the University of Texas at Houston at Hermann Hospital, a Residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic. Dr. Pruitt’s clinical specialty is in the evaluation and treatment of young children, organizing systems of care for children and adolescents, and family therapy. In addition, Dr. Pruitt is interested in how to bring public health and system of care including school mental health principles and practice together while protecting the core ingredients of the physician/patient relationship. He is a former President of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Society of Professors of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Directors of Divisions of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.)
