Jenni Jennings served as the Executive Director of the Youth and Family Centers of the Dallas Independent School District. The Youth and Family Centers are a collaborative school-based health program between Dallas Independent School District and Parkland Health & Hospital System. Ms. Jennings is a therapist with
more than 20 years in school mental health services for children and their families. Ms. Jennings served as President of the Texas Association of School-Based Health Centers and chair of a Texas coalition that succeeded in landmark school-based health center legislation. Ms. Jennings has received numerous prestigious state and national awards for significant contributions to the profession of school mental health. She was the 2001 recipient of the Juanita Evans Memorial Award from the National Center for School Mental Health Assistance at the University of Maryland. In 2003, The President’s New Freedom Commission on Mental Health named the Dallas Youth and Family Centers as U.S. model program for children’s mental health.
Additional recent work of Ms. Jennings includes program manager of the school district’s Refugee Program, member of the district’s Emergency Operation Team and service coordinator for Katrina hurricane evacuees enrolled in the Dallas schools. Ms. Jennings serves as an advisory member of the University of Maryland Baltimore's Center for School Mental Health and chaired the National Family Partnership Community of Practice.
